About

As a textile designer for film and television and the hand-knitting industries locally and internationally, I lived and travelled around the globe. In 2021 I returned to Aotearoa, New Zealand.

One of the things that surprised me was the lack of dyed, knitting machine-ready New Zealand wool yarn.

​

I discovered we mostly sell our wool in its almost raw state. I wondered why we didn't tell the stories of its origin in beautiful textiles instead. 

​

The Knit Shepherd Studio was set up to do just that. It's a small-scale prototyping lab and textile artist studio for New Zealand's natural fibres.
